I like to shop for birds

I've been on a screen printing bender today using a new technique that actually ended up working out. I am sure it has been done before but I only just realised that it might work and was worth trying.

I will post about that next week, today it is still about the pigeon print, this time on a calico shopping bag. I've made four of them but I think I might keep one because the strap twisted, plus it is a good excuse to have one of my own. The other three are coming to Rose Street on Saturday then I might put them online for those of you that can't get to Fitzroy.

Oh and I was VERY disappointed after watching Project Runway Australia from Monday night. I was going for Petrova and when it was her and Julie in the bottom two I was heartbroken as I liked them both. My reality dating show injection on Monday with The Farmer Wants A Wife was also good, although they did pad it out a bit too much making a rather big deal about the shock decision that Nick made, which in the end wasn't that interesting. I think they could have just shown Rob and Jo for most of the 90 minutes and that would have made me happy. At least then people wouldn't be referred to as a gold digger on national television. Ouchies! Let me know if you saw it as I was smsing people during it and want to hear what people think.

I couldn't believe Petrova and Julie were in the bottom two either...I just wish Petrova had listened when she was told that hers didn't match the rest of the collection. It's just annoying that a good designer can get kicked off as a result of one challenge...
I must say that I'm loving the bitchiness between the designers too!

I liked Petrova as well. Anyone but that horrible woman with the super short fringe - Helen?
She's so up herself.

Top bag. Now, you probably know this and like making your own bags, but you can buy pre-made calico bags. Did you know that? I feel a bit like I'm telling ya how to suck eggs but I have picked them up quite cheaply for Girl Guide projects. Oh, and have you tried making the same sort of bag out of old denim jeans. They print up well. I've bought op shop jeans (look for a bargain day when they're selling them off cheap) and cut the legs to make the bagg. You can include things like pockets and labels for fun. They print quite nicely though.

No foxtel here, alas. I am slightly addicted to America's Next Top Model though.. Tyra Banks is so funny when she's trying to be serious.

The Farmer Wants a Wife; I agree. It was a bit pathetic in the end. Rob and Jo are so lovely though.

Hi Anna, I love the screen print. I too am trying to develop a new method for screen printing. It is a medium I am very interested in. Time is such a problem with running the gallery and my new baby. But I must find the time to print!
All the best.
